| Purim is celebrated on the 14th day of Adar, which this year is March 8. It is a joyous holiday that commemorates Jewish people living in Persia being saved from extermination. We read Megillat Esther, which tells the story of how Queen Esther foiled the evil Haman, and saved her people. Purim is traditionally celebrated with great joy, and with giving of gifts, Mishloach Manot, to friends, and giving charity, Matanot Levionim to the less fortunate.
